First seen Mar 22, 2026 · Last updated Apr 24, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether transferring healthy gut bacteria (fecal transplant) can prevent infections like pneumonia and infected pancreatic tissue in people with severe pancreatitis. About 150 adults with moderate-to-severe pancreatitis will receive either a fecal transplant or a placebo through a feeding tube. The goal is to see if this simple procedure can reduce serious complications.
