New smart scale could help heart failure patients stay out of hospital

NCT ID NCT07205120

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests a smart scale and online system to help manage fluid levels in people with heart failure. Fifty adults recently hospitalized for heart failure will use the scale at home, and their doctors will get alerts if fluid levels rise. The goal is to see if this remote monitoring can help doctors adjust treatment early and prevent another hospital stay.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Cardiac Scale and Congestion Index monitoring system

What this could lead to

If it works, this could help doctors remotely manage heart failure patients' fluid levels, potentially reducing hospital readmissions.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early pilot study with only 50 participants, so results may not apply to all heart failure patients. The intervention is not a treatment for the disease itself.
