Could fish oil and an arthritis drug ease diabetic nerve pain?

NCT ID NCT05169060

First seen Apr 09, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study looks at whether fish oil, alone or with the drug salsalate, can improve blood markers of inflammation in people with type 2 diabetes and diabetic nerve pain (neuropathy). About 100 adults will take fish oil capsules for 4 months, then add salsalate tablets for 2 more months. The goal is to find the best doses that safely increase anti-inflammatory substances in the blood, as a step toward a future treatment for nerve damage.
