Simple Finger-Prick test could uncover hidden heart failure

NCT ID NCT07320677

First seen Jan 10, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a quick blood test (NT-proBNP) can help doctors find heart failure earlier in adults who take water pills (loop diuretics) but don't yet have a heart failure diagnosis. About 400 people from GP practices in Jersey will take part. Some GP practices will offer the blood test, while others will continue usual care. The goal is to see if the test leads to more heart failure diagnoses within a year and helps catch other heart problems sooner.
