PCOS and fibromyalgia: is there a hidden link?
NCT ID NCT07189247
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study will check how often fibromyalgia occurs in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and how pain relates to mood and insulin resistance. About 140 women aged 18-40 with PCOS and a healthy control group will answer questionnaires and have pain thresholds measured. The goal is to understand the connection between these conditions, not to test a new treatment.

- What this could lead to
- If this study finds a strong link between PCOS and fibromyalgia, it could lead to better screening and treatment for pain in women with PCOS.
- What could go wrong
- This is an observational study that only looks for connections, not a treatment trial. It is small and may not apply to all women with PCOS.
