First seen Dec 09, 2025 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study tested whether a numbing injection near the hip (femoral nerve block) works better than intravenous fentanyl for pain relief in adults with a broken hip. 104 patients in the emergency department were randomly assigned to one of the two treatments. The goal was to see which approach reduces pain more quickly and safely, potentially lowering the need for strong painkillers.
