First seen Feb 23, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study tests whether a fecal microbiota transplant (FMT) from a healthy donor can delay or prevent recurrent pouchitis in people with ulcerative colitis who have had ileal pouch-anal anastomosis surgery. About 42 adults with chronic pouchitis will receive either FMT or a sham procedure. The main goal is to see how long it takes for pouchitis to return after the transplant.
