New electric pulse treatment aims to tame atrial fibrillation
NCT ID NCT07162597
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study tests a new procedure called pulsed field ablation (PFA) using the FARAPULSE system to treat people with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation, a type of irregular heartbeat. Researchers will enroll 200 Chinese patients to see if the procedure can safely isolate the veins that trigger the condition. The goal is to offer a gentler alternative to standard heat-based ablation.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Pulsed field ablation (FARAPULSE system)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could offer a safer, faster alternative to standard heat-based ablation for controlling atrial fibrillation.
What could go wrong
This is a single-center, single-arm study with no control group, so results may not apply broadly. Long-term success and safety are still being evaluated.
