Exercise order may boost strength in COPD rehab
NCT ID NCT07655011
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This trial investigates whether the sequence of endurance and strength exercises during pulmonary rehabilitation affects muscle strength in people with moderate to severe COPD. Participants are randomly assigned to do either strength training before endurance work or the reverse. The study aims to find the best way to structure rehab sessions to improve lower limb strength and overall function.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
pulmonary rehabilitation with varied exercise order
What this could lead to
If one order proves better, it could help optimize rehab programs for COPD patients, potentially improving muscle strength and daily function.
What could go wrong
This is a moderate-sized trial testing a subtle change in exercise sequence. The effect may be small or not clinically meaningful, and results may not apply to all COPD patients.
