NCT ID NCT05023993
First seen Nov 10, 2025 · Last updated Jun 22, 2026 · Updated 28 times
Summary
This pilot study tests whether a home exercise program plus a dietary supplement called nicotinamide riboside (similar to vitamin B3) can improve muscle health and insulin resistance in adult survivors of childhood cancer who have prediabetes. The study includes 20 participants and focuses on whether the program is practical and well-tolerated. If successful, it may lead to larger studies aimed at preventing diabetes in this high-risk group.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
nicotinamide riboside (a dietary supplement similar to vitamin B3) and a home exercise program
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a way to help childhood cancer survivors manage prediabetes and improve muscle health.
What could go wrong
This is a very small pilot study (20 people) focused on feasibility, not on proving the treatment works. The results may not apply to everyone, and the supplement or exercise may not show clear benefits.
