First seen Jan 21, 2026 · Last updated Jun 18, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study tests whether a 6-week exercise program, added to usual pain medication, can reduce disability and pain in adults aged 60 and older with chronic low-back pain and signs of back muscle degeneration. About 314 participants will be randomly assigned to either the exercise program plus medication or medication alone. The study will also use MRI scans and computer models to better predict who might benefit most from this approach.
