NCT ID NCT07397533
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at whether adding pain neuroscience education to a walking program can reduce abdominal pain, symptom severity, and stress levels in people with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Thirty-three adults with IBS will be split into three groups: exercise alone, exercise plus education, or a control group. The goal is to find a non-drug approach to managing IBS symptoms.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
aerobic exercise and pain neuroscience education
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a simple, drug-free way to ease IBS pain and improve quality of life.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 33 people, so results may not apply to everyone. It tests a behavioral approach, not a cure.
