First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether a 6-month program of aerobic and resistance exercises, done during dialysis sessions, can improve body composition, muscle oxygen levels, and physical function in 40 adults with chronic kidney disease. Participants are randomly assigned to either the exercise group or usual care. Researchers will measure changes in muscle strength, walking ability, and quality of life.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

exercise program (aerobic and resistance training during dialysis)

What this could lead to

If it works, this could show that exercising during dialysis helps patients feel stronger, move better, and have a better quality of life.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage study with only 40 participants. Results may not apply to all dialysis patients, and the exercise program may be too demanding for some.
