Exercise and diet may slow early kidney damage

NCT ID NCT06912425

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looked at whether a 12-week program of exercise, a protein-controlled diet, and education could improve health in people with early-stage kidney disease (stages G1 and G2). Fifteen participants completed the program. Researchers measured changes in cholesterol, muscle strength, body composition, and quality of life. The goal is to find safe ways to manage early kidney disease and possibly prevent it from getting worse.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

exercise program and protein-controlled diet with educational intervention

What this could lead to

If successful, this could show that lifestyle changes help manage early kidney disease and prevent progression.

What could go wrong

This is a very small, completed trial with only 15 participants, so results may not apply widely. It tests lifestyle changes, not a drug, so benefits are likely modest.
