NCT ID NCT06987903

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This trial tests whether a personalized exercise and breathing program before and after bariatric surgery helps obese patients recover better. 132 participants will either follow the program or receive standard care. Researchers will measure weight loss, waist size, and complications to see if exercise reduces risks and speeds up discharge.

Active substance

physical exercise programme and respiratory physiotherapy

What this could lead to

If it works, this could show that a simple exercise program before and after bariatric surgery helps patients recover faster, lose more weight, and have fewer complications.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage trial with only 132 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The exercise program requires commitment, and some patients may not be able to complete it.
