First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study will test whether a 12-week progressive resistance training program can improve brain health in people with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis. Researchers will measure brain volume and a nerve damage marker in the blood. The trial involves 26 participants and aims to see if exercise can be a helpful addition to standard care.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

progressive resistance training (exercise program)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could show that regular exercise helps protect the brain in people with multiple sclerosis, pointing toward a simple, drug-free way to manage the disease.

What could go wrong

This is a very small, early-stage trial with only 26 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. It is also not designed to prove exercise treats MS, only to measure changes in certain biomarkers.
