New drug may stop coughing during thyroid surgery recovery

Summary

This study tests if a medicine called esketamine can reduce coughing when the breathing tube is removed after thyroid surgery. About 186 adults having a special type of thyroid surgery will take part. Half will get esketamine and half will get a placebo to see if it helps with coughing.
