First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study is testing two different ways of delivering intensive cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to veterans with PTSD and anxiety disorders. One format is individual therapy over two weeks, and the other is group therapy over two days. Both are compared to standard care. The goal is to see which approach improves anxiety symptoms and quality of life the most. The trial is currently recruiting 306 veterans.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could show that a short, intensive therapy format works as well as or better than standard care for veterans with PTSD and anxiety, potentially making treatment more accessible.
- What could go wrong
- This is a behavioral intervention study, not a drug trial, so results depend heavily on participant engagement and therapist skill. The intensive format may not suit everyone, and long-term benefits are still being measured.
