Hospital talk therapy: extra rounds may calm nerves before endoscopy
NCT ID NCT07286877
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether increasing ward rounds from twice to four times a day, with structured conversations and simple breathing exercises, can lower anxiety in hospitalized patients waiting for therapeutic gastrointestinal endoscopy. About 1,000 adults with mild anxiety will take part. The goal is to see if this low-cost, non-drug approach improves anxiety scores and patient satisfaction.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Enhanced ward rounds with standardized communication and relaxation exercises
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a simple, low-cost way to reduce anxiety and improve hospital experience for patients awaiting procedures.
What could go wrong
This is a behavioral intervention, not a drug, so effects may be modest. The study is not yet recruiting, and results depend on how well staff follow the protocol.
