Could better COPD care help lung cancer suspects breathe easier?
NCT ID NCT07543601
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at whether giving early, tailored COPD treatment to people being evaluated for lung cancer can improve their breathing and overall health. About 280 participants will receive either standard care or extra COPD consultations focusing on medication, smoking cessation, and referrals. Researchers will track symptoms and physical function over six months.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Tailored COPD consultations including medication, smoking cessation, and referrals
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that early COPD treatment improves breathing, quality of life, and survival in patients also facing possible lung cancer.
What could go wrong
This is a relatively small, single-center trial. The intervention is supportive care, not a new drug, so benefits may be modest. Results may not apply to all hospitals.
