Familiar voices may unlock brain prognosis in coma patients
NCT ID NCT05740735
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 04, 2026 · Updated 32 times
Summary
This study looks at whether playing a patient's own name spoken by a familiar voice (like a family member) can trigger stronger brain responses than an unfamiliar voice. Researchers will test 114 ICU patients with disorders of consciousness after cardiac arrest, stroke, or head trauma. The goal is to see if these emotional sounds improve the accuracy of brain tests used to predict recovery.
