Learning to avoid infections: study tests education for catheter patients
NCT ID NCT07172750
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at whether teaching patients about catheter care can improve their attitudes toward preventing infections and lower their anxiety after urologic surgery. About 70 male patients who go home with a urinary catheter will receive a training booklet based on daily living activities. Researchers will measure changes in infection-prevention attitudes and anxiety levels.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
education on urinary catheter care
What this could lead to
If it works, this could show that simple education helps patients prevent infections and feel less anxious after surgery.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 70 male patients, so results may not apply to everyone. It measures attitudes and anxiety, not actual infection rates.
