Heart drug dronedarone tested to stop AFib recurrence after ablation
NCT ID NCT04704050
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 33 times
Summary
This study looked at whether the drug dronedarone can prevent atrial fibrillation (AFib) from coming back after a heart ablation procedure. About 22 adults with AFib were randomly assigned to take either dronedarone or a placebo after their ablation. The goal was to see if dronedarone reduces AFib recurrence and slows scarring in the heart's upper chambers. The trial was terminated early, so results are limited.
