Could a simple questionnaire spot hidden heart failure in seniors?
NCT ID NCT07673562
First seen Jun 29, 2026 · Last updated Jun 30, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study evaluates a simple questionnaire designed to detect decompensated heart failure—a sudden worsening of heart failure—in people aged 55 and older on Réunion Island. Researchers will compare the questionnaire's results with standard heart exams (echocardiogram, ECG, and cardiologist exam) to see how accurate the tool is. The goal is to provide a quick, low-cost way to identify patients who need urgent heart care.

What this could lead to
If successful, this simple questionnaire could help doctors quickly identify heart failure in older adults, leading to faster treatment and better outcomes.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase study focused on developing and testing the tool. The questionnaire may not prove accurate enough for widespread use, and results may not apply to other populations.
