Catheter freedom: one day vs. four days after surgery
NCT ID NCT06344884
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 03, 2026 · Updated 22 times
Summary
This study looked at whether women who had surgery for prolapse or incontinence could safely remove their urinary catheter at home just one day after surgery, instead of the usual 3-4 days. 128 women who failed a voiding trial before leaving the hospital took part. The goal was to see if early removal led to similar rates of needing a new catheter or self-catheterization. The approach could reduce discomfort and the risk of infection.
