First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested a small, disposable device that gently stimulates nerves in the ear to see if it could reduce the amount of strong painkillers (opioids) needed after open abdominal or pelvic surgery. 286 adults who had surgery for cancer or a liver transplant took part. The goal was to find a non-drug way to manage pain and lower opioid use.
