E-Hookah nicotine may damage blood vessels, small study suggests

NCT ID NCT04133376

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested whether nicotine in electronic hookah (e-hookah) affects blood vessel function. Thirty-three healthy young adults who already used hookah or e-cigarettes vaped e-hookah with or without nicotine in separate sessions. Researchers measured blood vessel dilation and other markers of vascular health before and after vaping. The goal was to see if nicotine alone causes the blood vessel damage seen with e-hookah use.
