NCT ID NCT05200572

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested a telehealth program called Dyadic Life Review (DLR) for older adults (65+) with advanced cancer and mild cognitive impairment, along with their caregivers. The program involved 8 weekly video sessions where patients and caregivers shared memories from different life stages. The main goal was to see if the program was feasible and acceptable, not to measure effectiveness. Out of 42 people approached, 38 agreed to participate, and most who completed the program found it acceptable.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Dyadic Life Review (DLR) - a structured reminiscence therapy delivered via video-conferencing

What this could lead to

If successful, this approach could offer a way to improve emotional well-being and reduce loneliness for older cancer patients with memory issues and their caregivers.

What could go wrong

This is a very small feasibility study (38 participants) with no control group, so results may not apply broadly. The intervention is time-intensive (8 sessions) and may not be practical for all.
