New heart valve shows promise in early trial for aortic stenosis

NCT ID NCT05712161

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This early study tests a new device called the DurAVR™ heart valve in 15 people aged 65 and older with severe aortic stenosis, a condition where the heart's aortic valve becomes narrowed. The valve is implanted through a catheter (TAVR) without open-heart surgery. The main goals are to see if the procedure is safe and technically successful, measuring outcomes like death, stroke, and complications within 30 days.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

DurAVR™ Transcatheter Heart Valve (THV) device

What this could lead to

If successful, this could provide a new, less invasive valve replacement option for people with severe aortic stenosis.

What could go wrong

This is a very early, small study (15 people) focused on safety and feasibility. The device may not work as well as existing valves, and risks include stroke, bleeding, or other complications.
