Double the shock, double the chance? new trial aims to jolt hearts back to rhythm
NCT ID NCT07560644
First seen May 24, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026
Summary
This study compares a new dual electrical shock technique to the standard single shock for restoring normal heart rhythm in people with persistent atrial fibrillation (an irregular heartbeat). About 177 adults will be randomly assigned to receive either the dual shock or the conventional shock. The main goal is to see if the dual shock is more effective and just as safe at getting the heart back into rhythm with the first attempt.
