Cheaper scan could speed up cancer treatment planning

NCT ID NCT07185958

Summary

This study is testing if a type of CT scan called Dual-Energy CT (DECT) can work as well as MRI scans for planning radiation therapy. Doctors need very clear pictures to map out tumors and avoid damaging healthy organs during radiation. The study will enroll 80 patients with cancers like brain metastases, head and neck cancer, and lung cancer to see if the DECT scan is just as accurate but faster and cheaper than current methods.
