First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looks at people with a sudden kidney blockage from a stone in their only working kidney. Doctors will randomly use either a tube placed through the bladder or one through the back to drain urine. The goal is to see which method helps kidney function recover better and makes later stone removal surgery more successful.

What this could lead to
If this trial succeeds, it could show which emergency drainage method better preserves kidney function and improves stone removal success.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 90 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. Both drainage methods carry risks like infection or bleeding.
