Can a sleep app ease chronic pain in young adults?

NCT ID NCT05147974

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested the DOZE app, a digital self-management program designed to improve sleep in young adults aged 18-25 with chronic pain and insomnia. Forty participants used the app and a sleep diary for 10 weeks. The goal was to see if the app is easy to use and helps with pain, sleep, and quality of life.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

DOZE app (a web-based self-management program for sleep problems)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could provide a convenient, digital self-help tool to improve sleep and quality of life for young adults with chronic pain.

What could go wrong

This was a small, early feasibility study with only 40 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The app is not a cure and may not help all users.
