NCT ID NCT06319872

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This early-phase study tests whether disulfiram (Antabuse), a drug used for alcohol use disorder, can improve vision in people with retinal degeneration (including retinitis pigmentosa, Stargardt disease, and dry age-related macular degeneration). Researchers believe the drug may calm overactive cells in the retina. The study enrolls 15 adults who already take disulfiram for alcohol use and have vision loss. The main goal is to measure changes in visual acuity and contrast sensitivity over time.
