First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study tests a newer type of deep brain stimulation (DBS) that directs electrical pulses more precisely, compared to standard DBS, for people with essential tremor. The goal is to see if the directional approach can better control hand tremors while causing fewer problems with speech, walking, and balance. About 24 adults who have had arm tremors for at least 3 years and are eligible for DBS will take part.
