App and coach aim to cut hospital stays for surgery patients

Summary
This study is testing whether a smartphone app combined with a personal health coach helps people recover better from major surgery. About 1,300 adults planning abdominal or other major surgeries will be randomly assigned to use the app and coach or receive standard care. The goal is to see if this digital support leads to shorter hospital stays, fewer readmissions, and fewer complications.
