Quick diet check: can short questionnaires replace food diaries?

NCT ID NCT07442305

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study aims to see if two short questionnaires can accurately measure how much dietary fiber and iron people eat, compared to the standard method of keeping detailed food records for five days. About 50 adults aged 18 to 65 will fill out the questionnaires and also complete 24-hour food recalls. The goal is to validate these simpler tools for use in future research.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to
If successful, these short questionnaires could provide a quick and easy way to estimate dietary fiber and iron intake in research or public health settings.
What could go wrong
This is a small validation study (50 people) that only tests questionnaires against recalls, not actual health outcomes. The results may not apply to other populations or diets.
