NCT ID NCT04319939
First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This study observed 66 ICU patients on mechanical ventilators to see if ultrasound measurements of the diaphragm differ between two breathing modes. Researchers measured diaphragm thickness during controlled and spontaneous breaths, and also during a sedation pause. The goal was to gather knowledge about how the diaphragm behaves under different ventilator settings, not to provide a direct treatment.
