Summary

This study tested whether a sedative called dexmedetomidine can protect the brain during surgery to remove a brain tumor. 56 adults having brain tumor surgery received either the drug or a placebo. The researchers measured markers of brain injury and oxygen use to see if the drug helped prevent secondary damage.
