3D X-Ray may predict dental implant timing after sinus lift

NCT ID NCT06507709

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study is testing whether a 3D X-ray (CBCT) can help dentists see if the jawbone has healed enough for a dental implant after a sinus lift procedure. Twenty-five adults who need a sinus lift for an implant will get a 3D scan right after surgery and again 6 months later. The goal is to measure bone changes and see if the scan can guide implant timing.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to
If successful, this could help dentists know when it's safe to place dental implants after sinus surgery without extra procedures.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early study with only 25 people, so results may not apply to everyone. It's about measuring bone changes, not testing a new treatment.
