3D X-Ray may predict dental implant timing after sinus lift
NCT ID NCT06507709
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study is testing whether a 3D X-ray (CBCT) can help dentists see if the jawbone has healed enough for a dental implant after a sinus lift procedure. Twenty-five adults who need a sinus lift for an implant will get a 3D scan right after surgery and again 6 months later. The goal is to measure bone changes and see if the scan can guide implant timing.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could help dentists know when it's safe to place dental implants after sinus surgery without extra procedures.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early study with only 25 people, so results may not apply to everyone. It's about measuring bone changes, not testing a new treatment.
