Blood test may reveal if breast cancer chemo is working
NCT ID NCT06087120
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 22, 2026 · Updated 30 times
Summary
This study is testing whether a blood test that looks for tumor DNA (ctDNA) can help predict how well breast cancer responds to chemotherapy before surgery. Researchers will take blood samples from 125 women with stage II or III breast cancer before, during, and after treatment. They will compare the blood test results with MRI scans to see which method better predicts a complete response.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a simple blood test that helps doctors know early if chemotherapy is working for breast cancer patients.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It is small (125 people) and only looks at certain breast cancer types, so results may not apply to everyone.
Conditions
The condition(s) this trial relates to.
As listed by the trial registrant
The condition terms exactly as the trial's registrant entered them.
