CT scans may offer a Needle-Free way to diagnose Lung-Heart condition

NCT ID NCT07667595

First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study will look at 60 adults with a type of high blood pressure in the lungs (pre-capillary pulmonary hypertension) to see if measurements from a CT scan match those from a standard invasive heart catheter test. If the CT scan proves reliable, it could offer a safer, less invasive way to diagnose and monitor this condition. Participants must have both tests done within 4 weeks of each other.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ€” not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that CT scans are reliable enough to reduce the need for invasive heart catheterization in diagnosing pulmonary hypertension.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study with only 60 participants, so results may not apply to all patients. The CT and catheter measurements must be taken within 4 weeks, which may limit accuracy.
