New 3D imaging reveals how blood thinners reshape lung vessels in clot patients

NCT ID NCT04113421

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study tested whether a 3D CT scan technique could measure changes in lung blood vessels after standard blood thinner treatment for pulmonary embolism (blood clots in the lungs). Ten adults with acute clots had a CT scan before and 48 hours after starting blood thinners. The goal was to see how well the imaging method captures the body's response to treatment, not to test a new drug or cure.
