Heart scan showdown: could a simple CT beat standard risk scores?
NCT ID NCT03920176
First seen Jan 15, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This study compares two ways to prevent heart attacks in people at risk for heart disease. One group gets a CT scan of their heart arteries to guide treatment, while the other group follows standard care based on a risk score. About 6,100 adults aged 40-70 with risk factors like high blood pressure, diabetes, or smoking are taking part. The goal is to see if the CT-guided approach reduces deaths from heart disease and non-fatal heart attacks.
