Cold therapy may ease root canal pain, new study suggests

NCT ID NCT07403578

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether applying cold (cryotherapy) to the gums right after a numbing shot can make root canal treatment less painful. About 100 adults with an infected lower premolar tooth will be randomly assigned to receive standard numbing methods with or without the cold treatment. The goal is to see if the cold helps the numbing work better and reduces pain during the procedure.
