NCT ID NCT07138365
First seen Feb 19, 2026 · Last updated Jun 10, 2026 · Updated 17 times
Summary
This study tested if applying cold therapy (cryotherapy) after a root canal can reduce pain and inflammation. 180 adults with infected lower premolars were divided into groups: one got a cold pack on the cheek, another got a cold saline rinse inside the tooth, and a third got standard care. Researchers measured pain levels and a chemical linked to inflammation (substance P) to see which method worked best.
