Nerve-Freezing technique could offer Longer-Lasting shoulder pain relief for stroke survivors

NCT ID NCT06782464

First seen Mar 20, 2026 · Last updated May 03, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study tests a procedure called cryoneurolysis, which uses cold to freeze specific nerves in the shoulder, to see if it can reduce pain and improve movement in people with spasticity (muscle tightness) after a stroke, brain injury, or other conditions. Half of the 50 participants will receive the nerve-freezing treatment, while the other half will get the standard treatment (botulinum toxin injections). The goal is to find out if the freezing method works as well or better and lasts longer.
