Freezing nerves may beat standard pain pump for hip fractures

NCT ID NCT06278987

First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study tests if freezing a specific nerve group (cryoablation) provides better pain control 30 days after hip fracture surgery compared to the standard method (a catheter that delivers numbing medicine). About 150 adults aged 18-85 having hip fracture repair will take part. The main goal is to see which approach leads to less pain and less need for opioids.
