Scientists probe how Crohn's surgery affects your Gut's hidden world

NCT ID NCT06146335

Summary

This study aimed to understand how two different surgical techniques for reconnecting the intestines affect the community of gut bacteria and the local immune system in people with Crohn's disease. Researchers compared the 'Kono-S' procedure to a standard method by analyzing tissue samples from 11 adult patients. The goal was to gather knowledge about the biological differences between the techniques, not to test a new treatment.
