Cord tissue grafts may speed healing of stubborn diabetic foot sores
NCT ID NCT07449975
First seen Mar 19, 2026 · Last updated Jun 13, 2026 · Updated 16 times
Summary
This study tests whether adding a special skin substitute made from donated umbilical cord tissue to standard wound care helps close hard-to-heal diabetic foot ulcers faster than standard care alone. About 272 adults with diabetes and a foot ulcer that hasn't healed after 4 to 52 weeks will be randomly assigned to receive either the cord-based graft plus standard care or standard care only. The main goal is to see if more ulcers close completely within 12 weeks with the added graft.
